Porsche 2016 991.2 facelift already testing but what exactly is Porsche changing?
Porsche is testing a facelifted 991.2. Much like the 997.2, there are minor cosmetic changes to the lights and bumpers. The 997.2 brought some major mechanical changes with the 911 Turbo in particular going to a direct injected motor and adding the PDK gearbox to the lineup. The 991 models all already come with direct injected engines and PDK transmissions so the question is will Porsche do anything more than a minor styling change?
The 991 looks very fresh and with the GT3 barely even getting on the market and the 991 Turbo essentially being brand new this update feels like it is coming very quickly. Perhaps Porsche will bump the output of the flat-6 engines with the Boxster and Cayman getting a more powerful turbo boxer four-cylinder motor in the next couple years. There is also the outside possibility that the turbocharged four-cylinder makes it into the 991 as the car has tested with the four-cylinder motor already.
Expect the 991.2 to debut as a 2016 model year car.
