    Renntech already has a Stage I 2018 W213 Mercedes-AMG E63 S M177 ECU flash tune pushing 720+ horsepower

How does Renntech do this so fast? The new W213 E63 AMG is barely on the streets and already they have a Stage I M177 V8 ECU flash tune in development. This is not the final tune by any means but W213 E63 AMG S tuning is already showing huge promise.

They are getting 724 horsepower out of the car which is almost another 100 horses over stock based on the baseline curve. The torque figure is 755 lb-ft:

Torque gains really start to show from 3000 rpm on before leveling off toward 7000 rpm. The engine sure is revving higher and making more power up top than the M157. The downsize in displacement is hardly hurting things down low. It's a broader powerband for sure.

The new E63 is a beast. Just look at the acceleration teaser in the video for yourself.

Damn. The new M5 will have to up the game substantially to compete with this.

    I love it.

It's going to be pretty close between the two but I think the M5 will have a slight edge.

My YouTube stopwatch skills put this at less than 3 seconds for 0-60mph!!! Amazing !!

I want to see a tune-only shootout between the new m5, new e63, new panamera and I guess the old rs7

    +1 Click here to enlarge

and my youtube stopwatch skills sees 10-11 sec @ 132mph so hopefully that means this e63 will be able to trap low 130s and mid to high 10s in tune only form

This generation basically comes down to which manufacturer gives you the most tune only. Lame but how it is.

I just said tune only because I don't personally like stock comparisons because whichever model offers more stock wins...without considering the modding potential...

Most of the tuning market is simple mods...a tune and exhaust are the most common, intake following close behind...

The number of people that go full bore on a car (upgraded turbos, meth, intercooler, etc) are limited considering so many of these cars are leased at first anyway and then you have the people who are averse to warranty risk.

It would be interesting to rate the cars are each mod-phase....example

    Stock: M5 1st, E63 2nd, Rs7, 3rd, Panny 4th
    Tune only: M5 1st, Rs7 2nd, Panny 3rd E63 4th
    Full Bore: M5 1st, Panny 2nd, E63 3rd, Rs7 4th

I agree strongly and that is how I would do it. Mod potential is how I buy my cars and a strong factor. The mainstream reviewers never touch on it and they really don't get it anyway.

looks like the stock w213 e63 was posting pretty strong results at moscow unlim500 with 155 mph 1/2 trap (i remember when that was fast with FBO E55 and stage 2 W212)

seems like MB may have resolved a bit off the off the line lag that the W212 is plagued with

it out launched a tuned RS7 which is impressive as RS7's are pretty stout off the line

it spanked stage 2 W212 CLS63 off the line and held it off for a while.... impressive for stock vs stage 2 w212

stage 2 M6 vs stock w213... W213 beats it off the line pretty bad and holds it off the whole way

No you will not. This engine is better.

All the 5.5 had going for it was that it was 5.5 liters.

As mentioned before it also seems that the transmission tuning is better in the new MCT...

700whp potential with stage-2 turbos + FBO on 93 octane pump....

I'm also assuming, because the turbos are slightly bigger stock E63 vs. C63, that even the pure turbo stage-2 upgraded versions will be 700whp+ capable...$6000 stock-on-the-outside looking turbos...NICE!

Will there be more custom tuning options for these cars like there is for the M5? The E63 struggles with less tuner-love...

Likely but we do not know if the housings are bigger. Probably though.

I don't think it has less tuner love. It had more tuner love early on actually.

Early on, sure, because Renntech, Wesitech, Eurocharged, etc. come out with a flash tune super quick....all while Terry is the only one with a decent tune for the M5 because BMWs encryption is just that much more complicated.

All I am saying is it would be nice if other tuners got into the E63 M177 market and we had more tunes and more parts to choose from.

Until then a F90 M5 makes the most sense for someone who wants to buy....for someone who wants to lease it seems the E63 is the best bet until the F90 tuning market opens up...then lease the M5 after the E63...

Did a ride along last weekend at an AMG event, this car is a beast! They also had a new GLC63 there, now have zero interest in upcoming X3M.

    Sounds like an awesome event.

No pics or vids? GLC63 info would be sweet. I'm a fan of that SUV as well. Would love to add one to the garage.
