McLaren MP4-12C vs. McLaren 570S 1/4 mile drag race
Well, here we have the newest entry level McLaren in the 570S model going up against its now phased out big brother the MP4-12C which has been replaced by the 650S. Both cars are very similar featuring 3.8 liter M838T V8 motors with rear wheel drive and dual clutch transmissions.
The 570S is a few hundred pounds lighter however and we recently saw an eye opening 1/4 mile time from a stock example.
Additionally, a race between these two model going from a roll was posted last month. The MP4-12C just ran away which makes us think either it was tuned or the 570S owner was not prepared. Well, this time both cars clearly are racing and ready to go.
The result is very close with the MP4-12C running 11.635 @ 128.80 and the 570S running 11.775 @ 129.45. Despite the higher trap on the 570S the slower elapsed time means it had it a worse launch and a bit of spin can inflate the trap speed over the MP4-12C which hooked better.
Unfortunately, the slip is not included so we do not have enough data to go on here to make any definitive conclusions. Also, these are pretty slow times for either car so it looks like the conditions were not the best but as they are running at the same time and same place it's a moot point.
The cars seem to be very even making it a driver's race.
