Saad Racing, Sound Performance, and ProEFI make 859 whp on a built E46 M3 S54 with ethanol and a Precision 6766 turbocharger
The S54 remains the BMW inline-6 power king going into 2015. Well, the S38 may have something to say about that but that is a discussion for another day. Sound Performance built the E46 M3 S54 motor and Saad Racing provided a turbo kit utilizing a Precision 6766 turbocharger.
The result? 859 wheel horsepower pushing 29 psi of boost on a Mustang Dyno. Here are the numbers at the various boost levels tested:
678whp @ 18psi
740whp 624wtq @ 23psi
859whp 710wtq @ 29psi
On a Dynojet this should be breaking 900 whp. They of course also have 1000+ whp M3's but this shows what is possible with a Precision 6766, a ProEFI 128 ECU, and a built motor.
Specs:
SP Built 10:1 CR Engine
Saad Racing Turbo Kit w/ SP 3" Boost Activated Exhaust Cutout
Saad Racing E85 Fuel System
Saad Racing Intake Manifold w/ LS3 DBW Throttle Body
SP Direct-Port Nitrous Kit
ProEFI Pro128 Flex Fuel Standalone EMS
OS Giken Twin Disc Clutch
They plan to test the Precision 6870 CEA GEN2 turbocharger next. 9XX whp on the Mustang? We will have to wait and see.

6870 I heard should spool just as well and have insane top end. I have been messing with that Idea on my car too. Anyways i believe this is Kentons car. He comes to Shift Sector a lot and his car moves out no doubt. Badass setup

The owners name is Alen and I'm not using the ProEFI but the 6870 is a great turbo which I have put a lot of miles on already.
The car in this video has since done 1045rwhp with the 6870 after some headwork since there was an issue after the 6766 was installed...I think a valve failed but the owner would know.

Ahhh, okay Gotcha. Thank you for the clarification on that. So both of you now have the 6870? How does it compare in spool vs the 6766.
I Pm'd you on FB like two weeks ago asking about 3rd gear pulls and Brakeboosting btw at SS etc. Thanks for your advice, it has helped a ton.Burger Motorsports

No problem, glad to help. The 6266/6466/6766/7168/7175/7275/7675 are now void turbos for the S54; the spool is pretty much the same with a lot more power available on the 6870 when directly compared to a 6766. The way I have been putting it...67mm spool with 76mm power.

On the S54 I seriously doubt that but you're more than welcome to have input once you've actually compared the two on this platform.

I will admit that statement was based off of back to back testing on the subaru platform which is quite a bit different than S54. He swapped turbos from 9180 to 6870 with nothing else changed and the 6870 took a few more psi to make the same power but spooled a few hundred rpm's slower than the 9180.
From what everyone says you need to be at a higher pressure ratio to actually see the benefits of the 6870 over the 9180 but he didn't want to lift his heads.
Either way, this is a sweet car and when/if I get a bigger turbo it will be a PTE, I was just being an ass haha.

The person I know who has the 6870 has the 1.0 AR TS exhaust housing. It was on a 2.5L engine so for better top end on a 3L you might could get away with the .96 single scroll and/or bigger AR TS.

There are direct comparisons of both along with backpressure readings on Supraforums...the 0.81 makes 1050...the 0.96 doesn't even get there.
