3615 pound curb weight for the 2015 W205 Mercedes-AMG C63 or just wishful thinking?
Manufacturers are really making trying to figure out what a car actually weighs these days pretty difficult. They play all kinds of games with the numbers in order to make the cars appear lighter than they really are in order to claim large weight savings. BMW fudged the numbers in a fashion that makes one stand in awe of their claims with the new F80 M3 missing their claimed target by 256 pounds. Is Mercedes guilty of the same thing here?
Until we get a new C63 AMG on the scales we will not know for certain but the chances of the car weighing 3615 pounds in US trim with fluids are pretty slim. Why? Well, first of all AMG states the weight at 1640 kilograms is 15 kilograms less than the previous model. We all know the previous generation W204 C63 AMG does not weigh 3648 pounds pounds. At 39XX pounds it is closer to 4000 than it is to 3600.
The C63 AMG S takes a 15 kilograms penalty over the standard C63. That is a fairly small difference and enough that a full or empty tank of gas can sway which one weighs more. The real question will be how much lighter the new car is than the older car and once an independent source weighs 2015 C63 we will know. 37XX pounds seems like a more realistic range than what AMG is giving us in their Press Release.

the new C class has a lot more technology than the last carried over from the S class, and i would think the drivetrain is heavier than the w204's

Yeah it is a +/- numbers game. Yeah you have subtract weight for rwd vs awd. But, V8 is going to add weight. Is MCT more or less weight than transmission in C400. I know the C63 uses a lot more aluminum in the suspension vs the base cars. It is quite possible 3,615 is a legit number. But who knows, BMW pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. M3 is now listed on BMW site at 3,595 lbs.

BMW's BS is hard to stand. They throw out numbers they will never hit to make it look like they are trying soooo hard to apply lightweight technology. Such a bitch move.

Maybe this is stupid of me, but I've just kind of gotten numb to the weight games. Ferrari and Lamborghini do it too. Porsche seems to be the one manufacturer that seems to list their specs exactly right. Which is quite German of them.
I still think that the C63 will end up at least 150-200 pounds heavier than the M3/4, but also with more power. In the real world, the S55 is making about what AMG claims for the C63...and I'm guessing these cars are under-rated. Once again, the BMWs will be the better driver's car...at least based on pure specs. However, the C63 should be genuinely wonderful this time around. The last car was great but had a terrible interior, was expensive for what it was, and honestly they were 4,000 pound cars. That's not acceptable. I think this thing should be a weapon. Plus...just member this engine is like two M133s put together...a car that's making (conservatively) 360 hp stock. Do the math.

On Mercedes Germany website they list : 1785 kg for the C63 and 1800 kg for the C63 S with fuel tank 90 percent full, driver, 68 kg, and luggage, 7 kg , so thats 70 kg over whats advertised here. Saddly but at 1800 kg / 4000 lbs, without any extras it's still a heavy car.

that's cause they carried a lot over from the S class. my dad's S63 is so $#@!ing amazing, this c63 is going to be like a mini version of it. but again, the 2015 S63 weighs like 40lbs more than the previous gen, which i think is going to apply in this car's case as well.
