2015 Mercedes C190 AMG GT will have 493 horsepower, curb weight of 3417 pounds, and replace the SLS AMG
More Mercedes-Benz GT figures are coming out and the car is seemingly directly targeting the Porsche 911 Turbo. It is no coincidence that AMG enlisted the help of Markus Hofbauer who was in charge of the Porsche 991 chassis development. The GT is expect to bow in late next year and replace the SLS AMG which will end production. The car will have 493 horsepower from an M178/M179 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 powerplant mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
The curb weight is expected to be 3417 pounds. The power to weight ratio should place performance of the GT very close to the base Porsche 991 Turbo. A Black Series version will likely go head to head with the Turbo S or 991 GT2.
The M178/M179 4.0 liter V8 will be based on Mercedes four-cylinder architecture but doubled for twice the displacement and cylinder count. The advantage here is a lightweight motor that can be placed further back and lower in the chassis to achieve 48/52 weight distribution.
The car will come standard with 265/30 front rubber and 295/30 rear rubber. The width will be close to the SLS but it should be lower and also shorter by approximately 140mm.
The expected date for the official reveal is during the German Formula 1 Grand Prix next year. Can Mercedes take on the 911 Turbo? It sure looks like it.

Yeah. Just seems like they are starting to use more dual clutches. The base CLA even has one.

Just read McLaren has been testing a new entry level supercar, the P13. It will go up against this car, R8, etc.

This car better get DCT and AWD.
If not, a C7 Corvette is much better choice.....especially for the money.

It will get DCT as mentioned. It likely will not be all wheel drive.
The C7 Corvette has neither so why it's a better choice I have no clue.BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped
