In case you have been living under a rock the Mercedes-Benz SLC is an upcoming sports car from Mercedes-Benz designed to go up against the Porsche 911 and the Jaguar F-Type. It will sport around 480 horsepower in base trim from the M177 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 (also going into the next generation C63). So what is the price? In the 80,000 pound sterling range which just about matches the 83,448 pound sterling base price for the 991 Carrera S in the UK which includes tax.

So, expect about the $100k range in the USA before taxes and options. What about the hotter AMG S version that will go up against the 991 Turbo? Closer to $180k as reported by Auto Express. At that point it no longer is a value and encroaches on the SLS AMG. Regardless, if Mercedes can introduce it at a price point close to the Carrera S this should prove to be a very popular car.
