Smoke from A/C vents and top of engine?
Anyone experience this? I had to have my car towed to the dealership because there was smoke from the A/C vents and the top of the engine along with the smell of burning plastic...sad day for me

Happened to me! Although different car, under different circumstances. Mine was a little bit of meth, mixed with hot turbo and viola! Hopefully, yours is just a coil that ate $#@!. You MUST let us know what you find out!

Yeah I just got my car like a week and a half ago...we'll see...it smelled like plastic so it might be that something came loose like a wiring cluster and the rubber/plastic housing was on the engine and heated up or something...we'll see...they aren't open on weekends but they will be open tomorrow, I'm sure they'll figure it out.

sounds like you melted some wiring. maybe you have too many accessories plugged into your lighter socket/fuse/wiring? the fuse is rated for a maximum of 20 amps. it should blow the fuse before melting the wiring but it sounds like it didn't.

I didn't have anything plugged in except my radar detector...I don't know...we'll find out tomorrow...just sucks it happened during finals week... :\

Around 250, I don't think it has anything to do with the engine, I think something just came loose maybe or something just laid against the engine the wrong way, but just to be safe, I took it in. HAHA, so I feel like an idiot...a plastic bag got stuck on the front part of my exhaust set up. LOL...everything is good now!
The burnt bag smell is still a bit around, because the little bit they have left on there will have to burn off...but I was kind of surprised...they charged me for it...my old BMW SA wouldn't have charged me but...it is what it is...different dealer different manufacturer different procedures I guess haha
