motor mounts

just had the motor mounts done today.2007 E63.wow,what a difference.i just bought the car last month and took it to my mechanic for spark plugs.it has 74k and the originals were still in there.i think the book said 90 or 100k,but i wanted to go ahead and do it and get him to look the car over for any problems or potential problems.

dealer wanted $700 for plugs.i bought 8 OEM NGK plugs for $80 shipped from Rock auto parts and had them installed for $75.saved $550 over dealer,nice.he said the car looked great except for 2 completely shot motor mounts.he ordered them and i brought it back the next Monday.

anyway long story short,the car drives,idles and starts 10 times better.it is almost like a new car.if any of you guys are experiencing vibration or rocking on start up,and acceleration,you should have the motor mounts checked out.i looked at the old ones and they were bad.

i also don't see them lasting very long with that design for these motors.i would bet they don't last more than 40,000 miles.i really can't explain how much better the car rides and drives.i spent $500 on the entire job.book calls for 5 hours i think,and he charged me 4 hours.he said it was tough getting them out and back in.he had to move the exhaust in this case.

yes,parts and labor.i'm sure they wanted $20+ for each plug,as there is quite a bit of mark up in them,but still it sounds like they wanted about 5 hrs for labor.wow.
