aFe Stage 2 Intake for N55
I pre-ordered an intake in March from PSI. My contact became ill and order lost temporarily. I'm told now by two sources it will be avail again on June 3rd.
Has anyone received this intake, and if so how is your impression with performance in hand with JB Stage 1 - N55.

Why InJen over aFe - With the cold air intake????? Injen looks like your pulling heat from engine bay?

aFe is in the car. There are some fitting problems connecting to stock end of intake with the aFe. It slips off when you tighten the clamp. It bolts into the box, so hopefully it stays in place. Will let you know when I've got more miles and recheck.
It does seem to help MPG and some power.

With an open Top on the aFe intake - there is a rubber grommet which I assume is to close it off from the Engine Boot Lid, there are still some small openings where the Pipe move towards the Stock connect point that will let in Engine temp Air. Still runs around 240 degrees on Hwy. The Wooshing sound it makes when air enters is still pretty cool though.
Fuel mile on Hwy, with short Shift and 70-80 MPH does seem to have improved at least 3-5 mpg. Prior I would get 25mpg, Now able to get 28 to 29.5mpg.
Remember short shift and no heavy rt foot. But if you want to accelerate, she does move even at 70-80, your over 100 before you can as Mississippi!2011 335i N55 BMS Stage 2, Bilstien PS10, Lowered 2" front and 1.5 rear, aFe Stage 2 8" Intake, H&R Front sway 27mm, BMS - 10mm spacer on front and 12mm on rear, Short Shift Kit, Clutch throw adjustment for shorter throw - BMS, Bavarian- Soon to have Easy Camber adjustable on Front

I am not sure on the HP gains if any, from the aFe intake, but the sound as you accelerate is rather exhilarating combined with Golf Tee Mod. I am definitely getting better Hwy Mileage if I stay in the 65-75mph range, I can get 29+ If I am heavy footed it drops to 21-22mpg. I drove to D.C. which is roughly 80miles, with Full Tank and setting cruise at 72 - I was getting 31. That's the first time I got that result with the BMS stage 1 tune and the aFe. AR Downpipe still on bench
With the Stock Unit an BMS stage 1 tune I was only getting 25-maybe 26 downhill.
All things being equal - I would still prefer to forget the MPG and go WFO!!!!! With the updated Suspension she stays straight and level and holds it's grounds on those windy roads and four wheel drift is great.2011 335i N55 BMS Stage 2, Bilstien PS10, Lowered 2" front and 1.5 rear, aFe Stage 2 8" Intake, H&R Front sway 27mm, BMS - 10mm spacer on front and 12mm on rear, Short Shift Kit, Clutch throw adjustment for shorter throw - BMS, Bavarian- Soon to have Easy Camber adjustable on Front

You'd be better off attaching an electric fan to your intake and turning it on in these hot conditions... I wonder if a CAI like the one from STETT for the N54 would be more beneficial on the N55? Of course fabricating one is the trick...
