    M54 heads onto M70 block

    -It's not done,it's an idea-

First,I'll give you reasons I want to try:-Would be proud since many believe its impossible
-Would be the only one in the world...the first
    -Is that a V12?Yeah!Its a V12!
    -2X6=12/3X4=12/8+4=12/10+2=12...
    -No replacement for displacement
    -Absolute torque master
-ALWAYS 2 power strokes on the crank,at least
    -Cheap cores,M70 cores are'nt expensive,saw complete
"good running" engine at 700$,M54 ares plenty.
-Except crank, would put less stress on individual parts
    for equal power.Ex:-600hp/6=100hp per cyl
    -600hp/12=50hp per cyl

So the M70 suffer from a big problem,it heads flows like sh*t.BIG TIME sh*t.
Particulary the exhaust ports.Worst, there is no provision to PnP,some tried to improve it with bad to no results.
The intake ports are less bad...but not good.If only theses where M20 heads it would be fine, but it's not.The
M70 use its own desing, with a bowl in the piston(eccentric,on the side)that match the combustion chamber in
the head. This engine have been desing to be quiet, smooth, reliable with"good"mileage. But theses features make
this engine extremely difficult to uppgrade for perfomance. Each time I see a pic of the block I get mad.I just wanna
fill theses 12 holes properly! So I did some reshearch. Many had tought about swapping heads but with M50,M20,S5X...
It just dont match and never will.

BUT,M54 did'nt exist or where brand new at this time.AND from some Google image search,it seem to match.Infinitly
    more than M20,M50/2 and S5X...It make sense...M70 where(with M60 V8)the first aluminium blocks.The M54 is too!
Since I cant stop thinking about it...but it might be impossible. Is it possible to inverse a head, inverse the cams in it?
Redoing the front and rear of the heads!Custom timing chains, what about vanos, deletable?

I do not understand why the stock heads can not be improved. Why couldn't someone like Bavarian Solutions do the headwork for you with the stock heads?

Trying to fit M54 heads on there is cool, way cool, but I do not know if that is possible. Maybe S50 heads would be the way to go if anything?

If the bore spacing of each bank of cylinders is different then you can forget this.

Then you have to figure out fastening the heads, it would be easy if there was enough material on the head OR block that you could drill holes to dowel the head and then torque them down.

Then you will need to figure out your piston to valve clearance due to valve angle, that can be an issue as one head is design for a completely different engine.

    There is much more...

I will not say it CANT be done. Because I have seen people take volvo I4 head and put them on a ford mustang 2.3 turbo SVO motor and make INSANE power.

I mean, if that can be done; then there is always a possibility.

I dont want to discourage the guy, just lay out what he's in for; it's his decision to do it or not.

I cant insert my pics on the post.I'm retarded with computers.

There is not enough material around the ports(especially exhausts)to do anything.(Pics would be helpful.)
    Thoses ares serious anti-improvement heads.

Today I discovered that S50(like you said)have same water passage shapes than aluminium blocks. But not all.
It was a S50B32,maybe euro...Anyway I will do my "search" on M54,since they are plenty and much cheaper.
Also maybe they are more compatible, cause they are made for alu block...MAYBE they ares of a different
material(thermal expension).Maybe not but I feel comfortable with the "alu connexion"!

Now let be clear, nothing will happen soon, but I want to have the block and heads in front of me.I could buy
them now but have no place,no garage.I'll fix that this year. Then I'll study the thing. At first check if water/oil
passages are compatible or adaptable, make sure fluids go up N down...then I"ll check how could I reverse
head/camshafts and fit timing chain and sprocket.IF I succeed up to that point,it will be Nirvana!

    Then I"ll make a real version...ECU,fuel,exhaust,pistons+rods(x12 ouch),double row TC,intake.
I could'nt believe not having at least the power of the S70/1 at that point. Then I'll test drive it.
It sure will be AWSOME sound, the only one of it kind.

Then I"ll sleeve it,putting the best lightweight stuff in it,fully balance, intercooler, oil cooler, twin turbo!
Chance are Jesus will come back on earth before!

    I should buy S38...........
