Audi S8 already in the 10's tune only - 1/4 mile comparison video between stock, APR Stage I 93 octane tune, and APR 100 octane race gas tune

Wow. Quite simply, wow. The 4.0 TFSI is a potent motor as we have all seen. Audi uses this motor in a variety of levels of tune from the standard S6, to RS6, to S8. In the S8 the motor features larger turbos that can produce a bit more power than in the S6 as these 1/4 mile results from APR show. The car is no slouch in stock form capable of 11's in the 1/4 mile at 116 miles per hour despite its fairly hefty curb weight of 4620 pounds.

What happens to the 1/4 mile time once tuned? Well an APR tune on 93 octane improves the numbers to [email protected]. That would be low 11's in a luxury sedan with just a tune. What happens on 100 octane race gas with a race tune? [email protected].

You could pull up next a Porsche 911, C7 Corvette, BMW M5, etc., and have three of your friends help you wave goodbye. If APR upgrades the turbos on this car the sky is the limit.

Incredible results, congratulations to APR who is doing great things with the 4.0 TFSI platform.

Right. I keep hearing about how awesome that 8 speed is, basically you can't tell the difference between it and a DCT, except the auto might be smoother at low speeds. I'm sure it sucks a little more power though. Either way, they really knocked it out of the park with this car...it can do everything.

Same basic engine but the S8 is rated at 40 horsepower less at 520. Audi has not stated what the differences are between the motors although we can assume manifold, turbos, and tune.

Yeah I don't think they have much confidence in it that way. It will be interesting to see how they hold up in these applications long term.

For 2.3+ tons, that's a really impressive time. They are pulling some incredible power out of a 4 liter with stock hardware.

This is more a cruiser to the M5's 'sporty' personality. But the M5 has become a straightline bruiser and in that sense I would actually prefer this.

I agree. Back when I was shopping for the M5, the V10 S8 was on my short list. I drove one immediately before beating on an M5 pretty good and not for a moment after that did I even think about the Audi again. I've driven 3 non competition pack F10 M5's and not having driven the new TT S8 yet, I feel pretty confident that I would drive the Audi home myself. We'll se when these things crack into the 50k range and I'm in the mood for another big sports sedan.

That's freaking bad.. It would be so easy too. Other than a blower really you just have to upgrade that horrible Jag air suspension with some coilovers. Then you'd get that nice stance as seen above. That's a cool cat to have just chillin in your garage.

You could always put it on airbags. But the car is surprisingly light and fun to drive.
