The Status on my Car...

I now have my car back to stock, and no longer have the SC kit. Gintani to date has covered the motor repair and labor, which I very much appreciate. As far as the motor tear down, inspection and diagnosis, that is up to Gintani to let us know.

Others may have a different opinion and I certainly could be wrong, but after doing more research, my feeling is the motor threw a rod because the car did have a Water/Meth failure not long before it went, it appears 9.5 psi is probably too much boost in general on a stock motor regardless of the fuel, but on 91 octane with no WM @ 9.5psi the motor would not last long and it most likely compromised a rod bearing. Even with the WM system repaired, the damage was probably already done.

On the stock setup with this used motor, running the Gintani X-pipe and Borla muffler, the car hit 355WHP, and 269WTQ. I also matched my previous best 60-130 time of 10.7s, so this used motor appears to be healthy and right were it should be.

It is also probably good to mention that after the meth failure you heard a ticking noise which, hate to make this correlation, the motor was basically a ticking time bomb.

Stock they put out between 330-360, with ~345 being about what you normally see. My car was 349 whp stock.

This motor was not rebuilt, it was a used motor.

12.0 @115 at a moderate track, 11.88 @ 118 at a fast track, but those runs were with a pulley and tune as well.

I don't know Dean or Ryan but Ricky has been running that boost, that is right. His motor is fine as are the others I believe? So I think that is stronger evidence for the meth failure being the issue more than the amount of boost as they are running fine with the meth.

Boost is set physically so a problem but you can have a warning for flow. I'm not sure what safeties Drew was running but from what I understand it took him a little bit of time to realize the meth wasn't flowing.

Gintani has the kit now. My options are open, I will keep the car, I like it too much and right now all of my buddies are getting GTR's, lol, so I'll skip that idea for now.

Excellent questions, I had no safety features. The tank I was running at the time was large, and you could not see how full it was because it was not clear. I was out doing Vbox pulls one morning, I did quite a few pulls and on the last one the motor shut down and acted a little odd. I went to Gintani the next day and we discovered the Meth nozzles were clogged. Joseph is correct the "ticking" noise I heard started after that.

They took it back, I am not sure what they are going to do with it, maybe they have someone who's already bought it or are looking for a buyer.
